Eddie Kendricks was apart of The Temptations and was one of the rare few soul bands who made it big going solo. I love his song “Can I” and in this Soul Train Awards interview (old) he sings an acapella version.

I know everybody worships this album by Lauryn Hill. But this one particular song stands out for me. She gets to the point in her lyrics and the groove is classic.

I miss Lauryn Hill, I’m just hoping she isn’t being mean to her musicians, and keeping her fans waiting too long, well, she already has but something in me thinks she’ll always be a relevant artist. Making the Adele’s and Joss Stone’s not so good.

This beautiful song by Marlena Shaw really is heart warming. Especially in this cold December weather, it is needed! I’m a huge fan of Marlena Shaw, not just for her huge hit “California Soul”, but for most of her material. I might have to get this album to start off the new year on a good one!

2012 is nearly coming to a close. It’s Christmas Eve. And I’m hardly having the party of a life time. But, I love this song featuring Paul Weller and Jool’s Holland on piano, “Don’t Go To Strangers”. There version is actually a good Christmas song, and reminds me why I loved Amy so much. She was one of the only artists I’ve ever really had an obsession with but she was worth it…miss her!

My favourite album by the legend Sam Cooke is “Night Beat”. I love a lot of Sam Cooke’s songs such as “Only Sixteen” but this album is an instant classic and has been for many years.

His short life touched many with his endless list of hit songs. Listen to this!

Its been a minute since I posted about Winehouse. She helped me get through some things when she was around so without her is quite difficult, I didn’t know her personally, but her music resonated with me to a degree. She was promoting her second album in the US when the performed this acoustic set for Spinner.com and I still haven’t finished listening to it, so I’m waiting to hear the interview…check it out.
